Goal Setting

One of the best things about being a CrossFit trainer is getting to know CrossFitters.  This week I sat down with Louis and we talked about goal setting and how to do that within the context of CrossFit workouts.  Louis is on the left in the pic, next to Mike (whose personal goals include getting to the Farmer’s Market for some Jojoba beef).  Setting personal goals is so important to improving your fitness.  You can really see and celebrate milestones as well as provide some direction for your efforts.  Of course, you can always just work toward doing your all out best on every workout which will get you fitter, but for many people they would like to be a little clearer about the process.  There is also an element of strategy in approaching the workouts if you do have a particular goal for yourself.  For example, we have some endurance athletes who are already very fast with a lot  of cardio fitness.  Their goal may be to get stronger, so in a workout like we did Wed, “Kelly”, perhaps they will slow themselves down a bit by using a heavier med ball or jumping to a higher box.  Your trainers are already encouraging you to use your warmups to really work on skills like kipping pullups.  We really want to support you all in your own personal goals.  If you haven’t had a chance to think about those we want to encourage you to make a short appointment with us to sit down and talk about it.  OK-I’m looking forward to it.
