The midwest sectionals took place this week. Not all of you are aware of the CrossFit Games shenanigans. Otherwise known as a contest to find the Fittest Man and Woman in the world. The Games take place in Aromas, CA in July. Leading up to the Games are two levels of Qualifying events-the sectional competition and the regional competition. The Sectionals and Regionals will whittle down the world’s crossfitters to the top 70 (or so) men and women to compete in July. Although you might not feel too connected to these competitions yourself, I would encourage you to keep an eye on things. The CrossFit Games are very influential in setting the direction of crossfit programming and training. Many of our daily decisions are, at least in part, influenced by the athletes, workouts and outcomes of the Games events. If you don’t watch the videos of the events with your heart racing and tears in your eyes you must have a heart of stone. More importantly you have some fellow crossfitters who are traveling to San Diego to compete in our sectional events. I’m pretty sure we have Kate Wells, Tony Brown, Matt Thrasher, Liz Cameron, Keith Fournier, Sam Inman, Stephen Haessler and Brad DeCastro headed to San Diego. Dave, who am I missing? Our own programming here at CrossFit Works for the next few weeks is designed to meet the needs of these competitors while making us all better! They compete the last weekend of March. Stand behind our folks for the next few weeks while they get ready.

Anybody have travel plans yet? It would be fun if the CFW crew stayed at the same hotel.
Keith, let’s talk.
Yeah, let’s stay in the same hotel! Although I might be staying on base, don’t know yet. I’ll be there volunteering and cheering you guys on!
I’m definitely going to be part of the cheering section, keep me posted on where we all want to stay.
Maybe someone should be put in charge of organizing the CFW Crew’s travel arrangments if we all want to carpool, stay in the same area, etc. (Not it BTW)
I’ve been emailing with a couple of the trainers over at CrossFit Socal. They have worked out a deal with Courtyard Marriott and were able to get a discount setup for Sectional visitors/spectators…basically $99/night which includes buffet breakfast (no idea what sort of food…but they say ‘special team breakfast’). They say the hotel is ‘next door’ to CrossFit Socal. There are a limited number of rooms being offered at this rate and they will likely fill up fast so if we wanted to do something like this, we should do it soon. Unless anyone has any other ideas I’ll probably book my room in the next day or two.
Individual Reservations:
Call (858) 573-0700 and ask for the “CrossFit Sectional Competition” to receive discount
S.D. is gonna be fun!
