No excuses, because yours will sound lame. Meet Sarah.

Today is Sarah’s 28th birthday.  Through an excellent grapevine she heard about our 2 week Paleo-Zone Challenge and she got started with that, came to a couple free Sat workouts and then signed up for her Fundamentals.  She is now, a few weeks later in her first week of group workouts.  Today she did the “Buddy Battle” workout as Rx’d with the 35lb bar.  Theoretically, Sarah could have the longest list of all the reasons and excuses why she can’t do CrossFit with us or eat Paleo:

1.  She started out weighting more than 300lbs.

2.  She liked soda.

3.  She works the night shift and is exhausted a lot of time with irregular sleep.

4.  Her fiance is a chef.

5.  She is a working class, single girl.  Not a lot of extra cash.

6.  She was hellaciously out of shape.

7.  She hurts a lot sometimes during her workouts.

Sarah, has not ever given us one of these excuses.  She started Paleo on the assigned day, got to workouts, gives it her all.  Sarah wanted to get into the 280s lbs by the day of her birthday.  She did it!  Her pants fall off if she puts stuff in the pockets too.  Plus, Sarah brought in some old school hip hop.  Right on Sister!!  Great work, lots more to happen in the next few weeks.

    Yeah, Sarah! I have been thinking all day about what a dynamic group we had in our class today- Larry, Nikki, Sarah and I, and just how awesome CrossFit Works is because of that.

    My thoughts exactly Rachel, I have been on such a high today being a part of our class today. SO happy to be a part of Sarah’s b-day workout. The Buddy workout is such a perfect example of why I love our gym, we all supported eachother 100% of the way, and it was a big accomplishment of a hard workout (ok maybe it was easy for Larry but I know that it was really hard for Rachel, Sarah and I :) ). Sarah it is an honor to know you. I have so much faith that you will succeed as I saw a determination in you today that felt very familar to me and my journey. You can and our doing this and I am so glad we get to do it all together. Hope it was a great birthday. Big love to you and to Jen and Carl for creating a space for so much magic to happen. Nikki

    Thank you all for your encouraging words. Thank you to all for your patience with me, for believing that I can always do more than I ever thought was possible of me. Most of all I am truly thankful and bless for having Brenda in my life she gives me a swift kick in the butt when needed… For like a month before I started just Paleo, she kept inviting me kept telling me how wonderful crossfit and its people are and what a difference it has made for her. I also saw how hard it was for her, how she would get nasty blisters on her hands (now I know that they are badges of honor and hard work). It took a lot of prodding but here I am. This is not a fad for me. It is not a quick fix. As I told Brenda..”It was not a little magic pill that got me to where I am. So a magic pill is not going to get me to where I want to be.” It is a total life change. I thank you all for everything.
