Trish-it was great having you. I love visitors, especially ones I know. Come back whenever you can and sometime soon I'll find a reason to come visit you all at CrossFit Southwest! Best to you.

Cool. We worked snatch basics too at Grand Rapids, MI crossfit. Tough stuff. Breaking the movement into parts helps, but then I get fixated on that mental check list and probably look like a break dancing robot. Need to just do it and forget the checklist. Looking forward to returning next week.

I want to take this time to say thank you to Bryon for being such an awesome trainer. I think that we should all feel fortunate to have someone like Bryon that can take such difficult and technical lifts and break them down in such a way that makes it seem possible. You can always count on him to push you to do your best and go beyond what you think that you can do. After all, isn't this what we have the trainers for anyway? Oh, by the way, killer workout today.

Hey Summer, have you seen this?

http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=38312&highlight=shane+bodyweight+workout&page=4

Post number 33 has a 22-page pdf of bodyweight workouts. When I don't have the equipment to do CrossFit Works' WOD, I go across the street to the school playground and choose a workout from the list.

Big thanks to CrossFit Works for including me in the class and for making me feel so very welcome. I was a little worried about coming in and not knowing anyone or feeling inadequate. The snatch is such a complex movement and I really felt like Byron’s coaching is top-level and right on point! Jen – your encouragement helped a ton too! I had such a fun time with all of you at the games and really have been wanting to come check out your gym, so it was an all around great experience for me.
I really look forward to coming back. A big thank you to all the gym members for making me feel right at home.
Thanks again,
Trish

Unrelated... but I came across this article about screaming. Granted, its about climbing and not crossfit, but still found it interesting: http://onlineclimbingcoach.blogspot.com/2009/06/sharma-scream.html

I often want to do crossfit like I try to climb: "...like a ballet dancer, with effortless panache in the movements, a totally straight face and not a sound coming from your lips."

I wish I was that cool... Doesn't work out very well when trying to pull off the 45th handstand pushup in Diane...

Well I am glad I was not alone with my feelings of total inadequecy yesterday when ATTEMPTING a squat snatch. It felt almost as bad as the first time I ever tried it and that was a total disaster. Jenny kept assuring me that it looked way better than those first days way back when but it felt as sucky. Maybe because it is purely and simply unatural to land in a full deep squat with a heavy ass bar loaded with weight over your head. Just kidding, well sort of :). I do trust that my snatch will get better over time, but I have a long, long way to go! And glad that everyone else is in the same boat with me.
