JULY 3rd POTLUCK PALEO BBQ

Bone is for the Dog, Meat is for the Man, Bone+Meat is for the Paleo Kid

This is my niece.  My sister got the girl started right.  Skin, meat, cartilage, gristle, bone, marrow-just what a growing person needs.  Also just what a CrossFitter needs.  Let’s have some!  On July 3rd we will have a big celebratory workout, chosen by an impromptu, self-appointed committee who would like to see some new names on the board for one of the benchmarks.  The workout will be at 5:30.  Post workout we will EAT.  We have a grill, so just bring something to cook on it or some kind of fruit or vegetable offering or whatever you eat that qualifies as Paleo.  Also bring some frosty cold ones if you like that sort of thing.  I am looking forward to watching some of you “man” the grill while I recover from the workout with a nice cold beer.  Bring your family if you’d like, especially if you’d like them to see you workout as hard as you can.  Please, please RSVP in any way you like: to the comments, on the white boards or in person.  Looking forward to it.  And-we will be closed on JULY 4th.

    I’ll be there, probably Bruce too. Bringing a few other friends as well. I’m even cancelling my salsa class for this!

    i will be there! as long as the workout is olympic lifting with nothing over 3 reps, i’m totally game…

    Mary and I will be there… I poste this in haste! Should we bring a dish for everyone and then meat for the grill for us or how is this working?

    Yes, Carl has this strange opposition to being closed, so I promised I would keep the doors open ’til 12:01 on July 4th. Who is bringing the disco ball? Ummm, I don’t think so Dave.

    what?! you don’t think so? then i cancel my rsvp! or more likely i’ll show up, do the WOD, and come face to face with death after not doing any significant conditioning for a month…

    You know what-just bring what you can or feel like. I never worry about enough food. In general, bring meat for yourselves and not everyone else. Someone can even bring the mustard if you aren’t much of a cook or shopper. I promise no one will go hungry!

    Ron and I will be there, and maybe the kids. WE will bring a lot of meat since Ron loves to grill. Oh and of course some beer.

    Gosh darn it, I hate having to work through all the fun. If something crazy happens at the last minute, I will come, but highly unlikely. :(

  • Can we read the first part of the Declaration of Independence together out loud in celebration of our republic’s birthday, and for the men and women who work to keep those birthdays coming? It would take a few minutes.

    IN CONGRESS, July 4, 1776.

    The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

    Absolutely, I was actually thinking of something similar. Let’s begin the workout with it-Stephen, will you offer to lead us in the reading? I am looking forward to it, although I always cry when I hear this document. It is so profound. That’s why I can’t lead the reading.

    Pancho and I will be there. I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Is there any chance that there is going to be some kind of kid’s “competition” at the same time. We would love to come up with some sort of “prize” if that were an option. One for every kid of course. We are all winners at crossfit. I am looking forward to it.

    I think it would be possible to have a kids thing, especially if a couple of you volunteered to take charge of it so that it could possibly be going on simultaneously while the adult workout goes on. If there is interest let me know.
