6 Months of Effort=A decent squat for Chris!

Last night both Bryon and I experienced a jaw-dropping moment.  It happened when we saw Chris, above on the right doing the Burgener Warm Up, do his Front Squats and air squats in the met con.  They looked like pretty decent squats!!!  ”Big deal”, you might be thinking, “my squat is pretty decent and no one gets excited”.  What is so special about Chris? Let me tell you, I don’t think we’ve ever seen a worse squat than what Chris started out with.  It hardly resembled a squat at all.  It was one of those, “Where do we begin?” kind of things.  As you all know painfully well, nearly every CrossFit workout includes some kind of squat motion.  Imagine if for six months you could never get one remotely correct.  Imagine if none of the trainers ever felt like it was time for a “That is what we are looking for” kind of comment.  Imagine if every single squat in here was just not really right.  That would just be so frustrating, wouldn’t it?  I mean, in our land of instant gratification who wants to spend 6 months on something as basic as the squat?  Awesomely, Chris did.  Anyway-Chris is finally nearing the real deal.  Now, I’m not saying there isn’t still plenty to work on, but there it was last night, a recognizable, perfectly serviceable squat. Chris, we are so excited for you!  Excellent work and perseverance.

nice work Chris… I am suspecting your hamstrings are a bit more liberated than when you began CF. That type of flexibility is hard won!
I wanted to shout out to the trainers a huge thank you! July marks the beginning of my 4th month @ CFW & I stayed this long & will continue b/c of you all. Tonight Bryon’s coaching made me feel triumphant. Kate always makes me dig (w/ a smile NICE!!!!!!!!!) Jen H. & Carl….. you are both amazing!!!!! Jenny ….I miss your 9am class. Andres makes me feellike I could DJ in LA…. and there is this cute ff Mike, I guess he’s okay.
anyhow… seriously I am here b/c of you all. Thank you…thank you. Like I told Jen, my man & I have so much to talk about now…& it has nothing to do w/ kids!
on another note I am having a hard time meeting even some easy dietary goals. I was off to a brilliant start w/ the PZ challenge… but then bit it big time. I was talking to Nikki & she offered to share her thoughts w/ me… it made me think that there are others who might need additional support w/ eating. Maybe we could meet… share ideas, meals, what works…success & otherwise. I would love to hear what those of you do that has helped…. I need continual help. It is easy for me to show up for WOD, but I know I could hit it harder & feel stronger w/ a better nutritional base. I may need a daily goal…………..
    anyone interested?????????

Yep, I would love to participate in such a thing Erin. I think this could be the perfect format to support eachother. Let’s set some goals for next week? One goal I want to set is only one cheat meal next week. I have been doing really well but have had more like 2 or 3 per week. I have millions of ideas, let me know what you are thinking. I also love the idea of sharing recipes nad food ideas, it can get so boring eating the same things all the time :) .

Erin and Nikki, I’m in. Food has always been my weakness. I’ve been trying to stick to PZ since the challenge and have actually done much better than I ever have nutritionally in my life. I just need some support in sticking to it during temptation times.
