Carl and I are here at the gym at 9:30 at night checking the Games rankings. Two things are bringing tears to my eyes: first of all, our excellent compatriot Matt Chan, owner of CrossFit Verve in Denver CO with his beautiful wife Cherie, is in 18th place after the days’ 5 workouts (that is right, 5 workouts today). Only the top 16 men and women can go on to compete tomorrow. Carl and I have our fingers crossed for some kind of calculation error or something. We want you there tomorrow Matt!
And even more meaningful for me is that Peter Egyed, from CrossFit Fury in Goodyear AZ is IN 4th PLACE TONIGHT!!! I judged Peter in the Great Basin Regional Qualifying Games (see photos above of Peter in Flagstaff) where the hand stand pushups got the better of him and he did not win a place at the Games in the Qualifier. Peter took first place in the “Last Chance” competition, where CrossFit HQ posted workouts and contenders could video themselves doing the workouts and HQ chose some participants. Peter and Britney and his whole crew from Goodyear are fantastic. Good luck tomorrow Peter!

Jen,
Janice and I are here at the Games! It is awesome! I have to say that watching these athletes push themselves beyond anything that they ever thought was possible (especially by the 4th WOD) makes me realize that I could push myself that much harder. Without a doubt, our affiliate must be at the games next year to compete for the affiliate cup. Who’s in?
I’d love to see us compete for the Affiliate Cup and I also believe we could have someone or 2 someones in the Games. Mostly, I would love everyone to know that every day when you think you can’t do anymore-you really can. Imagine if you came back in here for 5 workouts a day and had to do your all out best every time?! For some of us, that just isn’t where we are in life, but I do believe it is important to never underestimate ourselves and eachother. Can’t wait to hear all about it when you guys get back!
Yes, Andres I want to hear all your stories when you get back! I’ve been keeping up when I can online. These athletes are machines!
Thanks for the thoughts guys… 58th in the 7km was just too deep a hole. Next year!!! Keep on CrossFitting!
