“special props to the ladies in my class last night, they wrecked it! there is some serious female domination going down these days.” -Dave
There is a group of daring souls who have accepted an invitation to train twice per week with Dave Smith. These are people who were consistently the top finishers in all workouts, had reached plateaus with their Olympic Lifts and had the desire to commit to a new, higher level of intensity and training focus. They are also committed to eating to support their performance. It is a lot of fun and inspiration to watch them.
Last night they got 20 minutes to perform as many Bodyweight deadlifts (there is no scaling in Dave’s workouts-although I’m feeling like Elizabeth C. needs a handicap next time!) as possible. Each time they rested they had to run a 400M run. Jenny LaCoss triumphed with over 150 BW deadlifts. Who wants to run 400s when you can deadlift? And apparently, from Dave’s comment, it seems Elizabeth, Summer, Molly and Jenny all turned in impressive performances.
This is really funny to me because one night it just so happened that only the guys made it to Dave’s workout and an innocent by stander asked me if there was a separate girl’s workout! I should’ve said, “No, we just ask the women to take a night off now and then so the guys can have a chance to get the top numbers.” I’m just teasing, of course. You are all amazing.
There are some more people who get a High Five today:
MARGY S. got her kipping pullup! Margy is so cool and very understated. We wish she lived a little closer so we could see her more often.
DANIEL C. (is this two blog posts in a row for you?) who repeated every single wall ball in last night’s workout that did not make it to the target!!!!
KAREN B. who got a PR on her Shoulder Press this morning.
CHRISTINE A also got a PR on her Shoulder Press.
KATHY C. has been turning in a noticeably higher level of intensity these days. Looking very very good.

I love dave’s classes! his coaching has helped my lifting technique improve so much. Thanks Dave! The workout last night was fun. I know the running and lifting together will definitely help my marathon training.
I knew you could do it, Margy! You were only an inch or two away from the bar last time I saw your attempt.
very nice!
I’m just trying to keep up with the girls in Dave’s class!
Good job to everyone this week. There has definitely been a higher level of intensity this week.
