Hey everyone,
Labor Day is supposed to be celebrated with no working, so we’re not! Take a little extra rest yourselves. Some of you have been training pretty hard lately and with high frequency. It is sometimes a good thing to take an extra rest day or two. Extra rest + extra fish oil = a renewed CrossFitter.
A huge thank you to Erik M. for showing us the slackline last night. Bryon L. and Andres were instrumental in having a fun evening too. Elijah showed some great chest-to-bar pullups. CJ came in and heard some talk about muscle ups. He said “What’s a muscle up?” Demonstration by Andres…and CJ did it. Cool.
Earlier in the day we had two new double-underers-Nikki C. and Kathy C! What I have noticed lately is that there are several of you gaining new skills and new accomplishments like crazy. I love it!
We also have a new Women’s record for “Christine” by Karen B. That was an awesome workout Karen.
Everyone also enjoyed watching Dave’s class get through a grueling 24 min workout involving sledgehammers, heavy thrusters, pullups, burpees and high box jumps. The perseverance was pretty amazing. The winner of that workout was the wise old man of the evening, Chauncey H. As we all know with age comes beauty, wisdom, talent and skill, all of which Chauncey possesses- and the ability to crush a CF workout that involves a sledgehammer!!
And Leonard, of course I miss you when you don’t come in. While you rest your knee you can come in and keep me company holding the stopwatch! It is a very tough job I have.
Here is another definition of wellness from our nutrition challengers. This is Midori’s. I think we can’t be reminded enough that our health is impacted by our relationships with others and our relationship with ourselves. Thanks Midori.
"I think the definition of health and wellness is derived from two sources, one tangible and one intangible. The tangible source is engaging in a physical awareness (and understanding) of our individual bodies and doing what is necessary to fullfill the potential of those bodies -- at whatever condition and state they may find themselves in. Young athletes grow into adult bodies; seriously wounded veterans now find remarkable ways to continue active and vital lives; Native Americans have returned to traditional diets and found heart disease and diabetes abate; middle-aged and elderly women employing weight bearing exercises and improved diets discover they don't have to lose muscle and bone. The intangible source has to do with how we live in relationship with others and emotionally within ourselves. Faith can bring spiritual healing and a profound sense of wellbeing. Being intellectually active keeps our brains humming, and loving relationships, volunteering, working with a community of others, all provide sources of strength in those connections."

Great job on the D.U. Nikki and Kathy! Sorry I missed it. Karen, nice work getting your name on that board you stud. No surprise with the “Hammer”, I mean Chauncey, dominating Dave’s workout! It is awesome seeing such significant improvements in everyone. Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks Jenny, Karen I hope you read these blogs as you are a superstar. It has been so awesome to watch Karen and Kathy improve in leaps and bounds lately. And thanks Jen for believing in me. I have been feeling a bit down about my lifts and squat flexibility. Doing the workout at 95lbs really gave me a boost
.
Awesome job to Nikki, Kathy and Karen! It’s great to hear about everyones accomplishments. So we have a new nickname for Chauncey now… Sledge!
Hey Summer, any meetup groups at the shooting range coming up? I would still love to go with you
