Tuesday December 1st at 7pm will be a Paleo Basics lecture. For those of you new to us, like all of you that have recently finished the On-Ramp, this will be your chance to hear how to get started with some profound, life-changing eating changes. No, I’m not exaggerating! That’s right-life-changing. Get on in and hear how to get started. Get a little taste by watching the video below.
This post is to wish you all the most wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and to let you in on the incredible successes of some folks who buckled down and changed their eating for REAL! If you remember we had a 3 month nutrition challenge that ended recently. There are a couple stand out participants and I want to share with you what they accomplished.
Keith Fournier:
Keith is the picture of what a little organization can do for you. Rather than use his multiple-job, two home, always-on-the-road life as an excuse (sound familiar to anyone?) he realized he would have to get incredibly organized, make a plan and stick to it. And look at that data.
"As part of the nutritional challenge I wanted to get body comp measured at the beginning and end. Bryon took my measurements 2.5 months ago and today. My goal was to lean out without losing a lot of strength. After leaving today I was pretty excited. I'm down to 7.5%! I have never been this lean in my life. Also, through out the course of leaning out I was able to at least maintain and in many cases increase my strength is all the lifts we have been tracking. Here are my two data points so far... Date Weight BF% Lean Mass Body Fat 8/27/2009 185 13.6 159.84 25.16 11/11/2009 170 7.5 157.25 12.75 Difference 15 6.1 2.59 12.41
Patty & Tony Zucco:
Patty and Tony are Personal Training clients (who are gonna rock the CF group workouts when they are ready because they know how to work at high intensity!). They were pretty skeptical about giving up bread, but check this out:
"It is nearing the end but the changes in the Zucco household has been eye opening. *Friday nights were once pizza night, no longer. *A yogurt was a quick snack in our house, no longer. *Cereal is non-existent. *Fruits and vegetables appear for all three meals. *Choc chips, that used to be a stable in our house, no longer. *I no longer skip meals. * I could go on and on..... The many, many healthy changes that have occurred in our food choices took this long to become a habit. You were so right, two weeks anyone could do it. Three months is a commitment. "
Many many people had some excellent experiences and you’ll get a chance to hear more about them in the future.

I sent this blog to some of my friends who were a bit critical of my decision to pursue this eating lifestyle before I was damned to KGB meals here in Afghanistan. (Blech) But I plan on getting back in the game when I get home. I unfortunately cannot survive on larabars alone…
But I heard rebuttals like, “Life’s too short…” (I’m assuming that meant too short to deny yourself delicious, sweet processed crap). And to that, I would think, “Actually, life can be long and healthy and happy…if you fuel it with the right food, which is, in reality, more delicious and enjoyable as anything you can make with high fructose corn syrup.”
Awesome video.
Congrats, Keith! Keep it up and you can have a bodyweight snatch without having to get any stronger.
Patty and Tony, getting that shit out of the house is a huge help, that’s kickass that you’ve made the change!
The challenge was definitely a great experience. Learned a lot about about how my body reacts to food and that I don’t need to be miserable to eat well. It definitely helped that Margy learned to make some freaking awesome paleo recipes.
Lol, as far a body weight snatch…it’s coming, but no more weight loss.
Awesome work Keith! great job to all who have made changes to their eating habits and continue to stick with it!
