Paleo Basics…the homework

Last night we had 20 people listen to our First Steps nutrition lecture: Understanding the Paleo Diet.  Eating Paleo is all about food quality and NOTHING to do with amounts of food.  I will give this lecture once a month.  Attendees went home with a shopping list and basic instructions.  This lecture will be required prior to attendance of the Zone Basics lecture.  I’ve found that so many of you cannot resist the temptation to focus on portion sizes and “how much fat” and “how much carbs” before you need to.  The foundation for wellness, health and recovery is first and foremost what you eat, not how much of it.  From this day on, before we start talking Zone and portions you will be required to bring me a 3 week food diary.  Yup, write down what you eat -EVERYTHING you eat- for 21 days.  Complete and organized.  You must tell me what time you ate and how the food was prepared (fried, steamed etc…).  I don’t care how much of it you ate.  I want to see that you really and truly ate Paleo for 3 weeks before we move on to any other nutrition change.  The Zone Basics lecture where we can talk about quantity of food will be on January 13 at 7pm.  You may not be at this lecture unless your 3 week food diary is in my hands by January 8th.  No exceptions.

An unweighed, unmeasured properly done Paleo diet will transform many of you without any need for further measuring. There are plenty of you in here whose body composition is not changing particularly dramatically even though your fitness levels are skyrocketing.  If you want health and body composition changes eat Paleo.   No more to be said!

The next Paleo Basics Lecture will be on Jan 6 at 7pm.

We’d like to bid John W. “Good Travels” and best wishes.  John has been stuck down in Sierra Vista for the past few months and we’ve loved having him come in and CrossFit with us when he makes it up to Tucson.  In a few weeks he will deploy overseas.  We’ll be thinking of you.  Keep us posted on your progress.

It’s been a pleasure so far getting to know you Mr. W. Your J Cash karaoke is outstanding and your crossfit could be better if you had 2 more cameras. Take care of yourself and we’ll be seeing you soon.

Thanks to Crossfit Works, in the last month, I’ve: lowered my Fran time to 7:30, and beaten charges brought against me. Thanks Crossfit Works!!!

Guys it has really been one of the highlights of my time here to workout with you. I’ll be sure to keep you guys posted and hopefully I’ll pass through Tucson and visit. Or I’ll come to Tucson just to work out. Either way, it has been a pleasure.
