On-Ramp is 12 sessions (3 times per week for 4 weeks). The emphasis is on skill development and exposure to our basic movements. We will be hammering technique for your safety and your success. During these sessions you will have a chance to:
- Gain an understanding of the CrossFit methodology. You’ll gain an understanding of the ten elements of fitness and how our programming in the gym will help you get fitter in every way. You’ll have the chance to sound like a performance geek because you’ll learn about things like the neuro-endocrine response to exercise and diet. You will absolutely be able to explain to your co-workers or spouse why you are not going to be spending 30 minutes every day on the treadmill.
- Learn the form and technique to perform the 9 fundamental CrossFit movements including the extremely athletic, Olympic Lifts safely. These lifts are essential pieces of CrossFit programming that are also the pinnacle of athleticism. You absolutely CAN learn them and do them. You will also practice all the exercises that will appear in our CrossFit workouts. As you learn these movements you will acquire the anatomy and physiology that are important in our descriptions of workouts.
- Learn the progressions for exercises that may take you a few weeks or months to acquire. For example, if you cannot do a handstand push-up we will show you the variations that can get you working towards this gymnastics element. This is the scaling that makes it possible for you to workout alongside people who have very different athletic capabilities.
- You will also get some basic nutrition information so that you can begin the process of optimizing your body composition. We all want to get lean, lose fat and keep muscle. Workouts with crappy diets will not achieve this for you, so we include both. CrossFit workouts are demanding and an important part of benefitting from them is having the nutritional basis to recover and build form your hard work!
- During these sessions you will get a workout. They will get progressively more challenging as we progress. The difficulty of them is in your hands.
We have two options for New CrossFitters joining On-Ramp:
The morning sessions meet from 6am – 7am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The evening sessions meet from 6pm – 7pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
