Our Approach

All workouts are designed and coached by a trainer. No more going to the gym and trying to figure out what to do on your own or paying a personal trainer $60 -$100 an hour to watch you play on a physio-ball. We follow a simple formula – Real Workouts. Real Food. Real Results. We lead you through increasingly difficult movements, guiding people of all fitness levels toward improved health and athletic ability. We use a wide variety of simple equipment to increase every aspect of your fitness. We have Concept 2 rowing machines, pull-up bars, parallettes, dumbbells, Olympic barbells and bumper plates, lifting floors that allow weights to be dropped (for safer lifting), squat racks, kettlebells, gymnastics rings, jump ropes, tractor tires, Glute-Ham Developers, medicine balls and plenty of space to move around. We don’t train muscles for the sake of training muscles. We train movement. It is, after all, the ability to move freely and powerfully that allows us to enjoy whatever it is we do, whether it’s high-level sports, gardening, or cleaning out the garage. Whether it’s lifting, twisting, pushing, jumping or pulling, we train people to move their bodies effectively, powerfully, athletically and most importantly pain-free. And best of all, the movement we do is fun.

Our workouts are programmed to increase your strength and overall conditioning over time. We aren’t content just to give you a “hard workout”. We all have had plenty of experience with isolated “hard workouts”. Hard workouts, unfortunately, do not necessarily result in increased muscle, decreased fat, accompanied by increases in all ten aspects of fitness including endurance, stamina, power, accuracy, coordination, speed, power, agility, balance and flexibility. We program workouts in such a way that over the course of several weeks or a few months you experience measurable, observable and repeatable improvements in fitness and body composition. Each of our workouts is designed to address specific elements of fitness. You might come in on Monday and do a long row. Tuesday may be seven deadlifts at your maximum ability. If you are used to a mono-workout or a little-bit-of-everything workout, our approach may seem strange. Just remember, our goal isn’t to give you a stand alone, one time great workout. Our goal is to give you weeks and months of great workouts that interact with each other at the level of your metabolism and physiologic adaptation to produce measurable, observable, repeatable improvements in fitness. We hold ourselves responsible for monitoring your improvements. Each CrossFit workout is timed and measured in some way. We will compare your performance over time. If you aren’t getting faster and stronger either we are doing something wrong or you are sending a stunt double to your workouts.

Our scheduled workouts are designed for small groups. Your trainer will lead you in a warm up and frequently some specialized skill work. You will then perform our workout of the day at your own pace and scale. Your trainer will watch you and coach you to ensure that you are performing the exercises safely, effectively and to the absolute edge of your ability. Cool down and stretching will follow the workout.

Many people are nervous about joining a group workout if their fitness level is significantly different from others. Our workouts are set up so that it doesn’t matter.  With the proper use of scaling, you will get the same workout as someone much stronger, faster or fitter than you, and the small group setting provides support, inspiration, motivation which is what makes our CrossFit community so special.

In order to provide each of our clients with a foundation of experience and proficiency at the exercises we enroll each new client in our ON-RAMP PROGRAM.
